Brazil Strings aims to assist string players who wish to volunteer teaching string instruments to disadvantaged young people in Brazil, integrating into and helping to build and maintain existing programs.
This organization is in its initial phase, so the focus of the project is currently to build the string program at one already-established music school in Rio de Janeiro; the Escola de Musica da Rocinha, founded by German music educator Hans Ulrich Koch, has been serving the youth of the Rocinha favela in Rio de Janeiro for 18 years.
